Vucic
Wins Back to Back Doubles
Titles
MCTA
Players Ilija Vucic and
Henri Kontinen will both
reach career high rankings
when the latest points hit
the computer next Monday.
Vucic paired with Niki Mozer
from Austria to win a second
consecutive doubles title in
Thailand at the ITF/LTAT
Junior Championships 2008 G1
tournament. They beat no1
seeds Siributwong and
Wachiramanowong from
Thailand 4-6 6-3 [10-8] in
the final.
Henri had a fantastic run of
a win and runner-up spot in
back to back tournaments the
last 2 weeks. He was one
hurdle short of winning a
singles double. He lost in
the final to Alexander
Lobkov of Russia 6-3, 6-3.
Kontinen had won the singles
title of SALON PAS
International Junior
Championships in Indonesia
last week.
Both Vucic and Kontinen
still have one more
tournament to play on their
Asian tour and MCTA Coach
Igor Tomasevic is pretty
satisfied to have been
involved on finals day two
weeks running, with MCTA
walking off with three out
of four trophies.
MCTA Director of Tennis,
David Sammel said: “The
results are significant in
both of their junior
careers. Henri has
established his credentials
as a player on the move and
Ilija has compensated with
patchy singles form with
some excellent doubles and
hopefully they can continue
the run of form into this
final leg of the Asian tour.
Certainly the other players
will be wary and they carry
the advantage of “Locker
Room Power” into this week
and hopefully into Europe in
April”.
