MCTA Players Win Doubles
Title
Ana
Veselinovic and Anna
Fitzpatrick will both become
the no 3 doubles players in
their respective countries
after winning their first
doubles Challenger title in
Clearwater, Florida.
They beat Chin-Wei Chan and
Seiko Okamoto of Japan in a
thrilling final, winning
10-5 in the Championship
tiebreaker. Previously they
had lost two doubles
Challenger finals in
Nottingham and Turkey so it
was excellent news to get a
title under their belt at
this level. The downside to
winning this doubles title
is that they were unable to
get to Fort Walton in time
to contest the singles
qualifying but this week
will be looking to extend
their winning run in
doubles.
Jez Green, who has been with
the girls for the past two
weeks, said: “The girls have
been able to bring a new
level of aggressiveness to
their doubles which has
helped the speed in which
they have been hitting the
ball and reacting to
situations. I am proud of
their efforts and hope they
can build on this next
week.”
