MCTA Parts Company With Oscar
Podlewski
The Monte Carlo Tennis Academy (MCTA)
has chosen to revoke the membership
of Oscar Podlewski after the
teenager’s ten-week training spell
at the Sutton Academy in London came
to an end.
The MCTA’s mission is to develop
players that will ultimately reach
the Top 100 in the world rankings.
It was decided that Podlewski was
not showing the necessary progress
to make that jump.
The door has been left open for
Podlewski to rejoin the Academy at
some stage in the future, provided
that he fulfils certain criteria
MCTA Head Coach David Sammel said:
"This is a difficult decision
because Oscar is a hard worker and a
good person and hopefully he will
find the competitive edge needed.
The MCTA has an obligation to let
anyone go that we no longer believe
is on target to reach the top 100.”
Over the past six weeks, 16-year-old
Academy member Ilija Vucic has
reached a career-high junior ranking
of No.86 and18-year-old Anna
Fitzpatrick has reached a final in
Sunderland and a quarterfinal in a
Challenger in Turkey.
The MCTA is the world’s first
touring academy. Its mission is to
discover, train and manage the most
promising young tennis players in
the world and to develop them to
become top 100 professional tennis
players.
