Fitzpatrick Ready For Next Step

Anna Fitzpatrick's bid for a place in the final of the $10,000 ITF tournament in Nottingham came to an end after she suffered a 6-3, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Anna Smith in the semifinals.

The 18-year-old from Sheffield, who defeated Smith to claim her first professional title in Ilkley just over a year ago, rallied from a break down in the second set but it wasn't enough to hold off the sixth seed.

Anna and fellow Monte-Carlo Tennis Academy star Ana Veselinovic will stay in Nottingham as they turn their attentions to the $25,000 tournament at the Tennis Centre, which begins on Monday.

"Anna's mind is clear and she is ready to make her move in the Challengers," said coach David Sammel.
