MCTA Pair Storm to Challenger Doubles Final

Anna Fitzpatrick and Ana Veselinovic stormed through to the doubles final of the challenger event in Turkey as they took another significant step in their development.

Anna and Ana overcame a succession of highly ranked players as they moved through to the final, where they were ultimately defeated in three sets by home favourite Ipek Sonoglu and Germany’s Korina Perkovic.

In the second round they beat second seeds Caroline Maes and Pemra Ozgen, in the semifinals Nina Bratchikova and Ivanna Israilova, before going down at the final hurdle.

MCTA coach Antony Hampson was delighted with the progress they made.

“It has been arguably one of the biggest results for them, especially Anna Fitzpatrick,” he said.

“They beat three very good pairs on the way and 3 girls inside the top 250 singles which will help their reputation.”

Anna and Ana will now travel to London to being their preparation for the British grass court season.
