Fitzpatrick/Veselinovic Reach Career High Rankings

MCTA players Anna Fitzpatrick and Ana Veselinovc have shot up to the highest rankings of their careers after impressive performances over the past fortnight.

Veselinovic broke into the Top 400 for the first time at No.391 after winning the title in Serbia last week.

Fitzpatrick jumped 88 places to No.401 after winning a round in qualifying for Wimbledon. In her final junior tournament, the 18-year-old then advanced to the semifinals of the Wimbledon Girls Singles.

The pair will now travel together to the Felixstowe grass court tournament to try to build further on their recent success.

'We are happy with the progress of all our players," said MCTA Director of Coaching, David Sammel.

"Anna Fitzpatrick has moved the goalposts and we are now looking for her to build towards a top 250 ranking by the end of the year. We expect Ana Veselinovic to do the same. The emphasis has always got to be improvement of their games. If that happens then the ranking naturally follows. Working hard is more productive than thinking about rankings. You set the goal, know you are capable and then forget about it. Anna managed this process beautifully at Wimbledon because she took care of each match individually.'
