Veselinovic Caps Great Week for
the MCTA
Ana
Veselinovic is back in the winner's
circle in style after winning the
singles and doubles titles in a
$10,000 event in Serbia over the
weekend.
While fellow MCTA players Anna
Fitzpatrick reached the semifinals
of junior Wimbledon and Wesley
Moodie almost shocked French Open
champions Mark Knowles and Daniel
Nestor at Wimbledon, Veselinovic hit
top form in a special week for the
Academy.
After overcoming Auroux Mailen of
Argentina 7-5, 6-3 in the semi's,
Veselinovic saw off Klaudia Boczova
of Slovakia 6-4, 6-3 in the final.
"It was a good week for me and I
feel good," said Veselinovic.
"It is a while since I've been in a
final, and today was a good moment
to see how I could deal with the
pressure of winning.
I'm happy that I coped well."
She then hooked up with Maria
Irigoyen to win the doubles title.
Veselinovic will now join Anna
Fitzpatrick at the $25,000 grass
court event in Felixstowe, England
which starts today. They are both
entered into the singles draw and
will team up for doubles.
