Veselinovic Qualifies in Grado
Teenage
Serb Ana Veselinovic has qualified
for the main draw of the $25,000 ITF
Women’s Circuit tournament in Grado,
Italy after she recorded a
comprehensive 6-1, 6-0 win over
Chile’s Melisa Miranda-Otarola in
the final qualifying round on
Monday.
Ana, seeded third in the qualifying
competition, received a bye in the
opening round and then defeated
Romania’s Oana Archip 6-1, 6-2 in
round two.
“I am really happy because I am in
the main draw, and that is where I
need to be,” said the 19-year-old
Ana. “I showed a good, high level of
tennis. I was pushing my opponent
all the time, she couldn’t find any
rhythm or any weaknesses in my game
where she could hurt me. Now I’m
ready for the main draw.”
Ana, who is currently at a
career-high No. 414 on the Sony
Ericsson WTA Tour, captured her
first professional title in
Podgorica last October. She is a
member of the Monte Carlo Tennis
Academy - a unique, touring academy
based in Monte Carlo with the
mission to develop Top 100 tennis
players.
