Semi Set Back

MCTA players Anna Fitzpatrick and Ilija Vucic both suffered defeats in the semi finals of the El Paso Junior ITF tournament in Texas last Friday.  Anna lost 6-2 6-1  to number two seed Tanya Raykova from Bulgaria while Ilija bowed out to Jack Seider from the USA 6-3 6-3.

Anna was unable to convert key points in her match and a rather harsh score line was unrepresentative of a closely fought contest with most games going to deuce.

In the boys draw a poor start saw Ilija find it hard to get back on track and although he raised his standard in the second set he was never able to make a real impact.

Despite this two semi finals straight after an intensive training block was an impressive start for the pair.  Ilija now faces another training week with Oscar, this time in South Carolina, whilst Anna heads to Georgia to compete in a Challenger in Augusta.
