LTA To Support New Monte Carlo
Tennis Academy
The
Monte Carlo Tennis Academy (MCTA)
has announced that the Lawn Tennis
Association (LTA) will offer its
full support to the academy in its
quest to produce top class tennis
players. The MCTA opened its doors
this September and is the first
academy to be based at the
illustrious Monte Carlo Country
Club, as well as the only academy to
offer a fulltime touring schedule
for its players.
In
partnership with the MCTA, the LTA
will be utilising the academy’s
coaching facilities both on Tour and
at its base in Monte Carlo, to help
British players achieve excellence.
Although the MCTA is an
international Academy it has already
selected one British player, Anna
Fitzpatrick, to join its squad.
Anna recently won the Women’s
$10,000 Singles event at Ilkley, has
since been named the LTA Player of
the Month and has climbed more than
300 places on the WTA rankings. The
MCTA is confident that another
British player will soon be welcomed
into the team.
Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the
LTA said: "To transform British
tennis, we need to maximise our
player's potential at all levels by
working with the very best. That's
why we are behind the Monte Carlo
Tennis Academy. Our players will
have access to world class coaches
in world class facilities outside
Great Britain both as a base and on
the Tour. I am delighted that Anna
Fitzpatrick, after her recent
success, will be the first British
player to benefit from the academy."
MCTA
Director of Coaching David Sammel
said: "I am delighted to continue
helping British tennis and the MCTA is
confident in the success that its
partnership with the LTA can
achieve. The LTA’s support is an
important component in helping the
academy achieve excellence without
compromise."
