Anna Glides into the Quarter Finals

Tropicana British Tour: Nottingham Ladies Singles

Anna Fitzpatrick made swift work of her second round opponent in the Tropicana British Tour Ladies Singles event at Nottingham.  Defeating Charlotte Machin with an aggressive game plan 6-4 6-0, she goes onto play Naomi Broady in the quarter finals tomorrow.

The first set went on serve until three games all when Anna took control.  Despite attacking Machin’s second serve up until this point Anna had been unable to break but three wining returns in the crucial seventh game combined with gutsy net play earned the MCTA player a 4-3 lead.  From this point on Anna relaxed, made fewer errors and only lost one more game in the rest of the match.

Anna was pleased with her play:

“It was a good match for me.  I persisted with my game plan and got a breakthrough at 3-3 in the first set.  I was executing it well throughout.”
